Interesting to see that the monohulls are not making their appearance yet to the same extent as in WSC. Or the American teams have concluded that the catamarans are the best, provided that they finish . . .
Well, two things are going on here: first, Blue Sky and Stanford, both monohull teams, are skipping ASC after having raced at WSC.
And second, ASC teams tend to be quite conservative: catamarans are still outnumbered by old-school symmetric cars (several of which are being newly built for 2020). Principia (32) and Western Michigan (30) are the only teams I know of who are building a new car that’s a catamaran.
