The morning of race day 3 begins, and the map above (click to zoom) shows GPS positions extrapolated using GPS time lag and the average speed since the start of the race (i.e. it’s a best guess for the true position of the car at the indicated time). Adventure-class teams are not shown. The table below shows team numbers, raw road distance from Darwin, average speed, extrapolated road distance, class (or number of seats for Cruiser class), team name, team social media links, and some links to pictures or status reports. For a live map of raw GPS data, see the official tracker. Tennant Creek control stop closes today 12:00, and Barrow Creek at 16:00.

Looks like we’ll lose another three or four Challengers today!
ITU should leave Tennent Creek at about 11am giving them five hours to get to Barrow Creek at about 45kph.
Goko, Kust and NWU need to average about 50kph to get to TC before it closes at 12 noon and then would have only 3 .5 hrs to get to BC at 64kph which is unlikely.
I wish them luck. It will be tough.
I’m also beginning to wonder how many teams, if any at all, will actually meet the race deadline.
Would the event be null and void?
Alice Springs is just under half distance and the maximum race time is 50.25 hours. Given even pace by my reckoning cars need to reach Alice by about 2.45pm today. However the pace always tends to drop in the second half of the race and the weather for tomorrow is particularly bad.
Of the four teams that currently look like they could possibly finish only Eindhoven can substantially reduce the number of people they are carrying. Bochum apparently did not charge last night so they might be able to boost their speed, as long as it does not cost them too much today.
Well, Cruisers do have the option of charging every night. And the lead Challengers are on track to arrive late Thurs or early Fri.
That’s my point exactly, even with that option the schedule is looking to be too tight.
No doubt the rules will be “adapted” just as they were last time to allow more finishers.
Results board now changed – Bochum did charge last night!
Strange Eindhoven also on 3 charges according to the board. Yesterday they commented (Dutch TV) that they where running Energy positive (charging while driving), was that more promo than reality?

Someone didn’t have to much sleep the past days, or the seats are quite comfy
Ollie
I wouldn’t take too much notice of what they say, it looks like their PR guys have very little grasp of the technicalities.
“According to their famous Dashboard” they generated 573Kwh yesterday, unfortunately it also says that they burned 575Kwh.
