World Solar Challenge: Twente-One

Here are the World Solar Challenge GPS positions as at 13:40 Monday October 19 (Darwin time) – Day 2 of the race.

Calculated road distances below are approximate, based on interpolation between towns. The second road distance shown (in grey) is adjusted to compensate for GPS delays. The lead teams have cleared Tennant Creek, although some of them have had to serve penalties. At the rear of the pack, some cars will probably not reach Dunmarra before it closes at 15:00, and EcoPhoton posted a picture of apparent problems. In the centre, the two South African teams are still keeping each other company. See the tracker page and timing board for continued updates.

  1. Thanks again for these great updates, Tony.
I don’t know if the data are available for most teams but it would be interesting to know (at least for the top 8 Challenger and top 5 Cruiser) to compare the times in the fixed control stops in 2015 vs 2013. One could get an idea about pacing strategies of the teams and of course speculate about the improvements and/or different circumstances.

    • Thanks for the kind words. And THAT is an interesting idea… I do still have the 2013 data, so it’s possible, although I doubt I’ll have the time to do it immediately.
