World Solar Challenge: top 5 teams reach Dunmarra

Here are the World Solar Challenge GPS positions as at 16:35 Sunday October 18 (Darwin time).

Calculated road distances are approximate, based on interpolation between towns. The second road distance shown (in grey) is adjusted to compensate for GPS delays (consequently the distance for Team Arrow is a guesstimate, although they were in fact just after Stanford at Katherine). Michigan, Tokai, Nuon, Twente, and Punch have now reached Dunmarra (633 km from Darwin). Michigan still leads. Twente were happy to be in second place, although Tokai has now passed them, and Nuon as well. Punch is fifth. Western Sydney are running well, and Lodz were looking good at Katherine, but Ardingly has had problems. All the teams have had a taste of fire.

The tracker for team 12 (Cambridge) is not working, although they are on the road. Durham trailered to Katherine to do repairs at the hottest spot on the road. See the tracker page for continued updates, although cars stopped for the night at 5pm Darwin time.
