World Solar Challenge: current status

Here is an updated overall view of current team status for the World Solar Challenge, not including teams that have withdrawn (PI #6 and KL Uni #37). All but 5 teams are now in Australia, mostly testing their cars.The social media icons below are clickable, and have mouseover text explaining what they are. CHALLENGER CLASS

2 University of Michigan

Team 2 is from the USA and their car, Aurum, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 9th in the Challenger class at WSC 2013 and 1st at Abu Dhabi. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley. They have been testing on the Stuart Highway in South Australia.

3 Nuon Solar Team

Team 3 is from the Netherlands and their car, Nuna8, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 1st in the Challenger class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia, and have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin. See also their recent video:

4 Universidad de La Serena – Minera Los Pelambres

Team 4 is from Chile and their car, Intikallpa IV, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 2nd in the Adventure class at WSC 2013, and their 2015 car design is explained in pages 15–19 of this document. They are not yet in Australia. No photograph of their car has been released.

5 EAFIT-EPM Solar Car Team

Team 5 is from Colombia and their car, Primavera, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 13th in the Challenger class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia, and have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin.

7 Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Team 7 is from the USA and their car, Arcturus, is entered in the Challenger class. They are in Australia.

8 Punch Powertrain Solar Team

Team 8 is from Belgium and their car, Punch One, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 6th in the Challenger class at WSC 2013 and 3rd at Abu Dhabi. They are in Australia, and have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin. See also their recent video:

9 Adelaide University

Team 9 is from Australia and their car, Lumen, is entered in the Challenger class. They have driven up to Darwin and installed themselves at the Hidden Valley Raceway, and have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin.

10 Tokai University

Team 10 is from Japan and their car, Tokai Challenger, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 2nd in the Challenger class at WSC 2013 and 7th at Abu Dhabi. They are in Australia.

12 Cambridge University

Team 12 is from the United Kingdom and their unusual car, Evolution, is entered in the Challenger class. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley. They have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin.

13 Western Sydney U Solar Car Project

Team 13 is from Australia and their car, Unlimited, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 11th in the Challenger class at WSC 2013.They have been testing on the testing on the Stuart Highway in South Australia.

14 University of KwaZulu-Natal

Team 14 is from South Africa and their car, Hulamin, is entered in the Challenger class. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley. They have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin.

15 Dokuz Eylül University

Team 15 is from Turkey and their car, DesTech Solaris, is entered in the Challenger class. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley. They have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin.

16 Stanford Solar Car Project

Team 16 is from the USA and their car, Arctan, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 4th in the Challenger class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia, and have been testing on the Stuart Highway in South Australia.

17 North West University

Team 17 is from South Africa and their car, Sirius X25, is entered in the Challenger class. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley.

18 MARA University of Technology / EcoPhoton

Team 18 is from Malaysia and their car, Stingray, is entered in the Challenger class. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley.

21 Solar Team Twente

Team 21 is from the Netherlands and their car, Red One, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 3rd in the Challenger class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia, and have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin. See also their recent video here.

22 Siam Technology College

Team 22 is from Thailand and their car, STC-1, is entered in the Challenger class. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley.

23 Kecskemét College Faculty of GAMF

Team 23 is from Hungary and their car, MegaLux, is entered in the Challenger class. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley. They have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin.

25 Goko High School

Team 25 is from Japan and their car, Musoushin, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 5th in the Cruiser class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia.

26 Durham University

Team 26 is from the United Kingdom and their car, DUSC2015, is entered in the Challenger class. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley.

27 R.V. College of Engineering

Team 27 is from India and their car, Soleblaze, is entered in the Challenger class. They are in Australia, but their car has been held up in transit. No photograph of their car has been released.

30 Clenergy Team Arrow

Team 30 is from Australia and their car, Arrow1-GT, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 7th in the Challenger class at WSC 2013 and 5th at Abu Dhabi. They are on their way to Darwin, with their car already there.

32 Principia Solar Car Team

Team 32 is from the USA and their car, Ra 9, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 6th at Abu Dhabi. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley.

36 Anadolu Solar Team

Team 36 is from Turkey and their car, Sunatolia 2, is entered in the Challenger class. They are in Australia.

46 JU Solar Team

Team 46 is from Sweden and their car, Solbritt, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 20th in the Challenger class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley. They have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin.

47 Nagoya Institute of Technology

Team 47 is from Japan and their car, Horizon Z, is entered in the Challenger class. They are not yet in Australia, although their car has been shipped.

51 Kanazawa Institute of Technology

Team 51 is from Japan and their car, Golden Eagle 5.1, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 12th in the Challenger class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia.

77 University of Toronto / Blue Sky

Team 77 is from Canada and their car, Horizon, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 8th in the Challenger class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia, and have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin.

80 Beijing Institute of Technology

Team 80 is from China and their car, Sun Shuttle, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 19th in the Challenger class at WSC 2013. They are not yet in Australia.

82 Kookmin University Solar Team

Team 82 is from Korea and their car, Baek-Ho, is entered in the Challenger class. They came 15th in the Challenger class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley.

CRUISER CLASS

11 Bochum University of Applied Sciences

Team 11 is from Germany and their car, SunRiser, is entered in the Cruiser class. They came 2nd in the Cruiser class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia, and have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin. See also their recent video:

24 Istanbul Technical University

Team 24 is from Turkey and their car, Aruna, is entered in the Cruiser class. They came 17th in the Challenger class at WSC 2013. They are not yet in Australia.

28 Singapore Polytechnic

Team 28 is from Singapore and their car, SunSPEC4, is entered in the Cruiser class. They came 16th in the Challenger class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley.

31 Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember

Team 31 is from Indonesia and their car, Widya Wahana V, is entered in the Cruiser class. They came 21st in the Challenger class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia, with their car due to arrive on October 12.

33 Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education

Team 33 is from Hong Kong and their car, Sophie V, is entered in the Cruiser class. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley.

35 University of Minnesota

Team 35 is from the USA and their car, Eos, is entered in the Cruiser class. They came 4th in the Cruiser class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia and based at Hidden Valley. They have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin.

38 University of Tehran

Team 38 is from Iran and their interesting car, Persian Gazelle III, is entered in the Cruiser class. They are not yet in Australia, although their car has been shipped.

40 Solar Team Eindhoven

Team 40 is from the Netherlands and their car, Stella Lux, is entered in the Cruiser class. They won the Cruiser class at WSC 2013. They are in Australia, and have been testing on the Cox Peninsula Road near Darwin. See also their recent video:

43 Ardingly College

Team 43 is from the United Kingdom and their car, Ardingly Solar Car, is entered in the Cruiser class. Their advance team is in Australia, with the main body of students in transit (last spotted in Kuala Lumpur).

45 KGHM Lodz Solar Team

Team 45 is from Poland and their car, Eagle One, is entered in the Cruiser class. They are in Australia.

75 University of New South Wales / Sunswift

Team 75 is from Australia and their car, eVe, is entered in the Cruiser class. They crossed the finish line first of the Cruiser class at WSC 2013, but came 3rd on points.They have been testing on the testing on the Stuart Highway in South Australia. See also their recent video:

ADVENTURE CLASS

20 Houston School District

Team 20 is from the USA and their car, Sundancer, is entered in the Adventure class. Their advance team is in Australia, with the main body of students in transit (last spotted at LAX).

34 Liberty Christian School

Team 34 is from the USA and their car, Solis Bellator, is entered in the Adventure class. Their advance team is in Australia, with the main body of students in transit.

42 TAFE SA

Team 42 is from Australia and their car, Solar Spirit, is entered in the Adventure class. They came 7th in the Cruiser class at WSC 2013. They are based at the Hidden Valley Raceway near Darwin.
