Following on from my previous post, this is what a solar car looked like in 1960. The photograph shows a 1912 vintage Baker Electric vehicle, adapted to use solar cells by the late Charles Alexander Escoffery. It required 8 to 10 hours of sunlight to produce enough charge to drive for an hour (at 30 km/h). The video below shows the car in action (thanks to the reader who sent me the link!). As far as I know, this is the first life-size solar car.
